THE SCORE

South Carolina State Bulldogs  (17-14, 10-5 MEAC) — 0

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hawks struck first on Sunday afternoon with a two-run third inning. Araceli Manzo reached base on a walk and Ryleigh Lilly hit a double to advance Manzo to third. With one out, Kinsey Mentzer hit a sacrifice fly to plate Manzo with Lilly advancing to third and the Hawks leading 1–0. Lola Meyer followed with a double, scoring Lilly to make it 2–0.

Chloe Weber started in the circle for the Hawks and faced early adversity in the second inning with the bases loaded. She struck out back-to-back Bulldogs to escape the jam before the Hawks' two-run third inning.

In the seventh inning, UMES held South Carolina State scoreless, allowing just one hit before ending the game on a groundout and two flyouts.
