Skinner named MEAC Rookie of the Week

After the University of Maryland Eastern Shore defeated NC Central in a three-game series sweep, freshman Skylar Skinner was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday, as announced by the MEAC office. The weekly honor marks Skinner's second of the season.

Against NC Central, Skinner tallied five hits, four runs scored, one triple, one home run and two stolen bases.

"Skylar is a true freshman impact player both offensively and defensively, who is having a great campaign this year and putting the conference on notice for what is to come for the future of the Hawks program," said Head Coach Aaron Robinson.

Fellow Hawks Paris Richards and Clarke Calvin were also recognized for their standout performances in the series, with Richards tossing a complete game and Calvin recording a home run, two doubles and four RBI.

The Hawks will visit Lincoln (Pa.) on Wednesday, April 22, and close the 2026 regular season hosting Delaware State on April 25-26.
