Scooter Clark and Jarutrawee Kotchagrai join UMES golf coaching staff

PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore has added Scooter Clark and Jarutrawee Kotchagrai to serve as assistant coaches for the men's and women's golf team. Davis and Kotchagrai will assist head golf coach Jerel Walker in all aspects of developing, teaching and overall success of the program.

About Coach Khotchagrai

Khotchagrai is a former collegiate golfer whose career was highlighted by competitive experience at the NCAA Division I level, SEC Academic Honor Roll recognition, and extensive international amateur golf experience.
 

She began her collegiate career and Mississippi State in 2020, making her debut at the Gators Invitational. Over four seasons, she competed in multiple collegiate events and established herself as a consistent contributor, recording two career top-20 finishes, including a career-best fifth-place finish at the Auburn Individual.
 

During her junior season in 2022-23, she recorded the lowest round of her collegiate career with a 1-under-par 71 at The Ally. She also posted her best 54-hole tournament score at The Show, finishing at 2-over-par 218 while competing as an individual. As a senior, she appeared in three events and earned a T17 finish at The Ally.
 

Her accomplishments extended beyond the golf course, as she was named to the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll in three consecutive years from 2022 to 2024. She majored in Kinesiology, combining her academic interests in human movement and performance with her experiences as a collegiate athlete.
 

Prior to her collegiate career, Khotchagrai competed extensively in international junior and amateur tournaments, including the Singapore Ladies Amateur Open, Thailand Junior Match Play, Truevision Junior Golf International, Albatross International Junior Golf Championship, and multiple Chang Junior International Golf Championships.



About Coach Clark

Clark comes to UMES with great experience as a former head coach, golf director and tournament director throughout his career.


He spent the 2025-2026 season serving as the head coach of Charleston Southern University. In his one season at CSU, he coached the women's team to two tournament victories while developing an NCAA Regional qualifier on the men's side in Dewi John.
 

Prior to his time in Charleston, Clark spent two years as the Director of Golf at North Carolina A&T from 2023 to 2025 and before that, working for the PGA of America as the Director of Collegiate Championships. Clark also has collegiate coaching experience as Bethune-Cookman's Director of Intercollegiate Golf from 2010-2016.   
  

In the 2024-2025 season, the women's team for the Aggies took two top three and five top five finishes including a runner-up title at the Elon Invitational in September. During the 2023-24 year, they had three top five finishes and a runner-up at the Bright's Creek Intercollegiate. In his years with the men's team, they have had four top three finishes at events. Following the conclusion of the regular season, the women's team came away with a victory at the PGA Works Tournament while the men finished second at the event held at Whistling Straights.
   

Prior to his return to coaching, he worked as the Director of Collegiate Championships from 2018-2023 for the PGA of America. Clark worked closely with the Strategic Advisory and Coaches Advisory groups to ensure that the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship delivered on the long-term goals and objectives for all stakeholders, including the student-athletes, coaches, partners and golf industry employers.     


His first head coach role came during his time at Bethune-Cookman, having a tremendous run of success with the Wildcats. In 2013, he led the men's team to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championship to receive the league's automatic bid for the postseason. The men also had three runner-up finishes at the MEAC tournament under his leadership. In addition, between the Wildcats' programs, they captured 10 PGA WORKS Collegiate Championships, the most by any coach in the 36-year history of the championship.   
   

In 2012, Clark had an individual from the men's team qualify for the Regional Round of the NCAA Championship, and in 2013, the Wildcat men advanced to the Regional Round of the NCAA Championship following their conference championship victory.   
      

Clark's coaching career includes 29 tournament team wins and 32 individual tournament championships between his time with the men's and women's programs. While he was at Bethune-Cookman, the men reached a GolfWeek ranking as high as No. 58, while the women's highest ranking was 76. The two programs earned the NCAA's Golf Public Recognition Award for three consecutive years in 2014, '15 and '16.   
  

Clark started his collegiate career in 1987 at Southern University. His final three years of collegiate golf were spent at the University of Maryland after transferring. Clark has been a Class A PGA Professional since 2009. He graduated from Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice.
