Luis Mena comes back to the baseball team as a assistant coach for his second season in 2013, graduating from UMES in 2012 after playing two years for the Maroon and Gray. Mena serves as the first base coach for the Hawks.
2011: One of two players to play in all 50 games, starting 49 of them ... served as the primary third baseman and reserve catcher ... third best on the team with .283 average, .410 slugging and .375 on-base percentage ... second on the Hawks with four home runs and 31 RBI, also six doubles a two triples, one of only three players with at least one double, triple and home run ... led the team in walks with 23 to just 31 strikeouts ... named MEAC All-Tournament Team with a 4-for-4 performance with a home run, three runs and four RBI against Florida A&M (5/19) ... had 15 multi-hit and eight multi-RBI contests ... notched five-game hitting streak from March 20-26, all multi-hit games.
2010: Played 45 games, starting 44 ... Batted .197 with 28 hits in 142 at-bats ... Had three doubles, 13 RBIs and scored 16 runs ... Was fifth on the team with 14 walks ... Took 31 total bases ... Tallied seven two-hit games ... Hit safely in five consecutive games from April 3 versus Delaware State-April 7 at Mount Saint Mary[apos]s.
Played two seasons for the Central Maine C.C. Mustangs ... Helped team to a Yankee Conference Championship in 2009 ... Graduated with an Associate[apos]s Degree in 2009.
