Sonny Hicks, Jr. is entering the his first year as an graduate assistant coach for Cross Country/Track and Field Coach at Maryland Eastern Shore. Hicks' responsibilities include recruiting, track meet management, as well as learning the administrative aspects of running a DI athletic program.
Hicks most recently served as head cross country and assistant track & field coach for at Bishop McNamara High School in Forestville, Maryland for two years.There he helped coached men's and women's outdoor WCAC Championships to a 2nd place victory. He also coached the school record holders in the men's 400 meter, 500 meter, and 4x400 meter relay.
The Prince George County native graduated from Bowie State University on May 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with concentration in Information Systems. He was also a great asset to the Bulldog track and field program and has the school's record holder and NCAA D2 qualifier in the DMR and record holder for the indoor and outdoor 800 meter run.
He is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Cybersecurity Engineering Technology at UMES.
Hicks enjoys running, giving back to his community by doing outreach, and watching CNN. He is a member of Track Phi Track Fraternity, Inc.
