Allen Davenport

Allen Davenport finished his 14th season with the Hawks as softball assistant coach. Davenport's duties and responsibilities are on-field coaching and recruiting. In his 14 seasons, Davenport has coached 12 Hawks to MEAC All-Conference honors while assisting the team to a 20-win season, back in 2009.

"My goal for the season is to make sure our athletes work together to do the right things," Davenport said. "Although I am a UMES Alum, I don't root for teams. I root for the student-athlete to do their best."

As a Maryland Eastern Shore student, Davenport lettered as a two-sport student-athlete in basketball and baseball. In 1983, Davenport's success on the hardwood earned him Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week honors. In that same season, Davenport was also named to the 1983 MEAC All-Tournament Team.

In 1987, Davenport graduated from Maryland Eastern Shore. In 2008, Davenport was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame.
