Her favorite thing about being a volleyball player is, “the way it makes me feel alive and makes every stress and worry fade away. I love the adrenaline, the challenge, and the fact that every point is a new chance to fight for something bigger than yourself. Volleyball has taught me resilience, confidence, and the beauty of teamwork and honestly, there’s no better feeling than making a save or winning a hard-fought rally with people you trust beside you.”
Loves playing at an HBCU because, “Playing volleyball at an HBCU as a Puerto Rican means a lot to me because it’s about finding family in a place where you might not expect it. Even though I’m not Black, being part of a community that’s so rich in culture, pride, and history has taught me so much about unity, strength, and celebrating who you are. I’ve felt welcomed, supported, and embraced for being myself. It’s made me proud to represent where I come from while also learning and growing within a culture that reminds me of my own in so many ways full of love, resilience, and passion. It’s more than volleyball, it’s about connection.”
She chose UMES because, “from the moment I connected with the coaches and the team I felt welcomed. They made me feel like more than just another player ,they made me feel like family. The energy was positive, the environment felt comfortable, and everyone genuinely cared about me as a person, not just as an athlete. I could see myself growing here, both on the court and as a person. Being away from home isn’t always easy, but UMES made it feel like a place where I’d be supported, appreciated, and surrounded by people who believed in me. That feeling of comfort and belonging is what really drew me in.”
