Penny Foland was named the University of Maryland Eastern Shore's head athletic trainer in August of 2023 and served in the role until August of 2026.
Foland came to UMESÂ with over 30 years of experience in athletic training.
Foland served as the athletic trainer at Nyack College for 32 years where she helped foster growth of the department from 60 athletes to over 200 along with the expansion of sport programming from six to 14. In 2019, Foland was recognized as the NCAA Division II Head Athletic Trainer of the Year.
Foland holds degrees from Messiah University in Sports Medicine and Pre-Med Biology. She is originally from Syracuse, New York and is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association.
