Jessica Long 2021-22

Jessica Long

Jessica Long's spent two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at her alma mater (2020-22). The first was limited to working with players in a practice capacity only as the Hawks opted out of the 2020-21 athletic season due to the uncertainly surrounding the COVID 19 pandemic.

She helped the team to a 21-16 (7-7 MEAC) record in the 2021-22 season.

Long hit what may be the biggest shot in program history when her jumper to beat the buzzer gave the Hawks a 52-50 upset victory against No. 1 seeded Hampton in the 2015 MEAC Tournament. A consummate point guard, she is No. 6 on the school's all-time list with 288 career assists, tied for No. 6 in steals (176), No. 3 in free throws made (366) and tied for No. 8 in games played (109). She was named Third-Team All-MEAC for the 2014-15 season.

After graduation, she traveled overseas to play for a Professional Basketball Club in Durham, England for the 2016-17 season. After getting injured very early in the season, she remained in England and helped coach the squad. She returned to the states to put her Exercise Science Degree to use as a physical therapy tech for several years, but the realities of the pandemic made her reconsider a career in health care. She returned to her alma mater to pursue a graduate degree in Rehabilitation Psychology.
