Maryland Eastern Shore volleyball coach Toby Rens appointed Axel Bayingana as a student assistant for the 2017 season.

Bayingana is currently a junior at Maryland Eastern Shore, studying mechanical engineering. In this position, he will assist in training players during practice while providing support rules to Coach Rens and Coach Callarman.

The Rwanda native picked up the sport in his home country, then continued to play after he immigrated to the United States. He is a graduate of Milford Mill Academy in Baltimore.
