Nov. 3, 2003

Box Score

Hampton. VA - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (22-9, 8-1 MEAC) won again tonight against Hampton University for the third time this season and for their fifth match in a row. It is not often that a team defeats another three times in one season, but the Hawks did just that with scores of 30-24, 27-30, 31-29, 32-30.

The team was lead by Jana Milin who had 20 kills, 14 digs and seven service aces. Aja Smith also had 14 digs along with 10 kills. MEAC Rookie of the Week Sanda Dzile also did not disappoint dishing out 44 assists. "Even though the ladies gave them one game, they dug down and played hard to win the next two," said coach Toby Rens. "Hampton was ready for us and gave us one of our toughest matches of the season, but we rallied when it counted and picked up a big conference win," he added.

Stephanie Cisnerios with 14 kills and Chavanoa Hoskins with 13 kills led the Lady Pirates.

UMES will continue to play on the road this week starting with Morgan State University in Baltimore on November 6 at 7:00 p.m. and on November 7 at 6:00 p.m. at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia at 6:00 p.m.
