Princess Anne, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) (1-13, 1-6 MEAC) dropped their fourth consecutive MEAC game on Saturday, this time to their MEAC rival, the Coppin State College Eagles (8-11, 6-2 MEAC) by a 68-42 margin. The Hawks were done in by the outstanding play of pre-season MEAC-first team player Jimmy Boykin who had a double double with 19 points and ten rebounds.

No Hawk scored in double figures tonight for the second time in Head Coach Thomas Trotter's tenure as Tee Trotter and Tim Parham led the Hawks with eight points each. Javes Wiggins turned in a team leading four boards while scoring seven points for the Hawks. Aaron Wellington and DeWitt Scott also had seven points.

The Eagles forced 11 Hawk turnovers but committed 12 of their own. They capitalized on those scorning 10 points to the Hawk's eight off of turnovers. Coppin State won the inside game as well outscoring the Hawks 22-10 and controlled the boards 39-22.

Coppin State jumped out to an early six point lead to open the game but the Hawks quickly tied it up after a trotter jumper and then a pair of three-pointers by Trotter and Jareem Dowling to equal the margin at eight at the 14:46 mark. The Eagles took over from there extending the lead to ten on Boykin, Chad Yates, Darron Bradley, and Nicholas King scores. A pair of free throws by Wellington cut it to eight but Coppin State turned around with a Labeeb Muhammad lay-in and a Bradley free throw to make it 11. From there the margin never got lower than eight as the Eagles had it to 18 at the break, a 5-17 margin. In the second half the Hawks faired no better, trailing by as many as 35 before trimming the lead to 26. That was the margin of loss as the final score was 68-42.

The Hawks try top make a quick turnaround on Monday night as they host the Bears of Morgan State University at 7:30 pm. This will be the first trip to Princess Anne, MD for the Bears in over two seasons.
