PRINCESS ANNE, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) men's basketball team visited a local elementary school on Friday, November 5 as part of a community service initiative designed to establish and strengthen relationships with area schools.

The Fighting Hawks, who recently went to Wicomico High School's Transition One program in Salisbury, Maryland, visited Chipman Elementary School, also in Salisbury, on Friday, November 5. The athletes ate lunch with the students during their assigned lunch periods, autographed posters, and also had a question and answer session with selected students.

The event is the second of many community service initiatives planned by the Fighting Hawks for the 2004-05 basketball campaign. The men open up their season on Saturday, November 13 in an exhibition game against Elizabeth City State.
