UMES ANNOUNCES 2005 CROSS COUNTRY SCHEDULE

PRINCESS ANNE, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) cross country team has announced their schedule for the upcoming 2005 season. The Hawks will host the Lid Lifter Invitational on Labor Day weekend to open their fall campaign. UMES will also host the annual Cappy Anderson Invitational on Sept. 24 and participate in four meets on the road.

Following their season opening invitational on Sept. 3, Maryland-Eastern Shore will head to Hunt Valley, MD on Sept. 10 to participate in the Towson Invitational. The Fighting Hawks will participate in the US Naval Academy Invitational in Annapolis, MD on Sept. 17 while the Lady Hawks will compete at the Salty Sea Dog Invite on the same day, also in Annapolis.

UMES will head to Norfolk St. for the Norfolk Invite on Oct. 8 before heading to Newark, Del for their season ending meet at the University of Delaware on Oct. 15.

This year's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Championships will be held in Cary, NC on Oct. 29. UMES was well represented at the 2004 Championships, with former Hawks Eva Slavikova and Barnabas Togom garnering first place individual finishes. The women finished third overall while the men took second, falling just seven points behind first-place Norfolk St.
