Coppin began game one with an 8-5 lead that was quickly diminished by the Hawks who went on a 5-1 rally due to a series of Eagle hitting errors. The two teams continued to battle but it was UMES who came out on top hitting .229 and only committing four errors to the Eagles 12 to make the difference.

In game two the Hawks (2-13, 0-3 MEAC) began with promise to extend their lead to two games with an early 7-2 lead but the Eagles recoiled and fired back with eight unanswered points to take the lead 9-7. The game remained tight until Coppin took a 15-12 lead. A 23-17 lead was the largest margin the Eagles held during the game as UMES rallied for eight of the final 12 points but it wasn't enough as Coppin held on for the 30-27 victory.

Arvin pounded out seven kills in the game to lead the Eagles who were once again out hit in the game 18 kills to 13. However, in this contest Coppin held their mistakes to a minimum, committing only five hitting errors to the Hawks seven.

Despite the game being a battle between Brittany Arvin and Maja Baltic, each team's No. 7 jersey wearer, in the end the victory came from a pair of kills by George.
