PRINCESS ANNE, MD - UMES swept the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) weekly honors today as sophomore Maja Baltic (Belgrade, Serbia/KGB) was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the week. Freshman Caylin Woodward (Garden Grove, Calif./Pacifica H.S.) received MEAC Rookie of the Week honors.
Baltic averaged 5.25 kills, 1.5 digs and 1.75 blocks as UMES went 3-1 in four matches last week. The Serbia native was named to the Kick-Off Classic All-Tournament team after posting 16 aces and a 36% hitting percentage in 13 games.
Woodward averaged a double-double of 11.5 kills and 10.5 digs last week and was named Most Valuable Performer of the Kick-Off Classic after totaling 46 kills, 42 digs, 16 assists and 10 aces. The outside hitter from California was three assists shy of a triple-double in the 3-1 win over Wofford (19 kills, 23 digs, seven assists).
Also earning recognition as one of the conference's top performers last week was sophomore Holiday Eller (Minnetonka, Minn./St. Benilde-St. Margaret's H.S.) who totaled a double-double of 14 kills and 17 digs in a win over Wofford.
The Lady Hawks return to action on Friday, Sept. 1 when they travel to Philadelphia for the LaSalle Tournament.
