UMES MEN'S BASKETBALL TO MAKE TWO ESPNU APPEARANCES

Nov. 21, 2007

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Men's Basketball Team will make two live appearances this season on ESPNU, thanks to the agreement ESPN has with the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). The William P. Hytche Athletic Center will host Hampton University on February 11 and Bethune-Cookman University on February 25. Both games will be moved to a 9:00 pm start.

UMES has traditionally hosted a televised game on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Recently those were games against Delaware State during the day. Now the MEAC has schedule two ESPNU appearances from Princess Anne, forcing the normal game time of 7:30 p.m. to move back to 9:00 p.m. to accommodate live television.

The women, who are scheduled to play both dates against the same opponents at 5:30 p.m. will not change times.. The women have no scheduled television games but hope to make an appearance in the MEAC Championship which will be televised by ESPNU on March 15th.

ESPN Classic will televise the men's championship, also on the 15 of March.

These two games account for two of the three TV showings by the Hawks. They were the first MEAC team featured on the new BigTen Network when they played at Iowa on November 20.

All in all the MEAC will have ten men and three women's game televised along with both championships on the ESPN Platform.
