PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) will enter a new stage of fan friendly technology next month when they begin hosting live video streaming of select home events with their new `HAWK EYE' video streaming service. UMES fans, friends and families will be able to watch select home contests live on the official website of Hawk Athletics, umeshawks.com, for FREE!
Thanks to an agreement with www.AllInBroadcasting.com. UMES will carry live video streaming of many home events including the remainder of the home basketball season. `HAWK EYE' will also carry several home baseball and softball events for the 2008-09 season and carry over to next year with full home volleyball and basketball coverage as well as continued coverage of sports that may include track and field, baseball, softball, bowling, tennis and more.
This season the live video streaming will be paired with the play by play action from UMES Director of Broadcasting for Athletics, Nick Anastos. Fans can still just here the audio coverage of the events, or watch the live video and hear the call of the game as well. Future events may be video or audio only and will be clearly marked on the respective team's schedule. UMES will post the games covered on its broadcasting page, located at www.umehawks.com/ot/broadcast-schedule.html.
"We are pleased to offer this opportunity to the Hawk faithful," said Director of Athletics, Keith Davidson. "It is just another way we are bringing Hawk Athletics to our community, fans and friends. We felt this was an important step in showing our commitment to technology and to our athletes."
Thanks to an agreement that All In Broadcasting has with YouTube.com, each broadcast will be archived on YouTube.com and then linked to umeshawks.com for archived viewing. Fans will also have the same great customer service aspect that All In Broadcasting offers, giving out help numbers for fans having treble viewing the streams.
"All In Broadcasting" has been great to us," said G. Stan Bradley, Asst. Director of Athletics for External Affairs. "They offer a superior product at affordable prices. They have carried our audio broadcasts for five seasons now and we are glad to incorporate the video stage of the broadcasts as well. I think our fans will love to watch game live and for free."
The first scheduled event for live streaming is the February 6, 2008 home women's basketball game against Delaware State. That game will begin at 6:00 p.m. with The Car Store pre-game show beginning at 5:50 p.m.
"Tune in and see what we are about," said Davidson. "I think this is a great step in elevating the quality product that is UMES Athletics."
