PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) is proud to announce they will host the High Peaks Specialized Volleyball Camps & Clinics for the summer of 2008. The one session commuter camp will be run by Hawks' Head Coach and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Coach of the Year, Don Metil. Registration is open now for the June 16th-19th camp.
The camp, which promises to help the player "reach their highest peak" will be held in the William P. Hytche Athletic Center on the campus of the UMES. It features three sessions each day beginning at 8:30 a.m. and ends at approximately 6:00 p.m. It is open to commuters only and features t-shirts, prizes and awards for all participants.
The sessions add up to over 33 hours of instruction, featuring Coach Metil, his staff and players at UMES and other area coaches. The cost is just $125.00 for all four days.
Coach Metil, was recognized this past season, his first at UMES, as MEAC Coach of the Year, his recruit, Whitney Johnson earned MEAC Player of the Year, and the team went a perfect 10-0 in the MEAC's Northern Division. It was the first time a UMES team has gone undefeated in conference play. His Hawk squad boasted a 24-4 record and went undefeated at home and on the road with the only losses coming at neutral sites. They won 22 straight matches, one of the longest streaks in the nation.
Metil has had success everywhere he has been. He is the winningest coach in school history at Coppin State University, had his team at Lees-McRae ranked in the top 25 nationally, and won conference titles while at the College of Notre Dame. Coach Metil is also ATC certified as an athletic trainer.
The goal of the High Peaks camp is to improve sports performance and get the athlete "game ready" for greatness. The camp incorporates technology and insight from bio-mechanics, performance nutrition, training component combinations, laws of motor learning, and the whole teaching method with thousands of game-like repetitions coupled with positive feedback.
The camp is limited to 32 athletes so sign up today by calling 410-905-4325 and requesting a camp brochure and registration information, or by downloading that information at www.umeshawks.com
