PITT NAMED MEAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - University of Maryland Eastern Shore junior Neal Pitt (Fort Washington, Md.) was named Mid Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Pitt averaged 22.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in helping to the Hawks to a 2-0 week, including a 73-58 win at North Carolina Central Jan. 21. The victory ended the nation's third longest road losing streak at 26 games.

Pitt had a game-high 24 points on 11-of-16 shooting to go along with five rebounds against the Eagles. He followed that up with his fourth double-double of the season of 20 points and 10 boards in a 54-50 win over the Rattlers.

Freshman Jaime Boyer (Philadelphia, Pa.) and senior Gary Lee (Flint, Mich.) were also named Other Top Performers for the week.

Boyer tallied 14 points and seven rebounds in the win at NCCU, while averaged 11.5 points and 5.5 rebounds on the week.

UMES (5-12, 2-4 MEAC) travels to Newark, N.J. to play its second game of the season with NJIT at the Prudential Center at 7:30 p.m.
