WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - University of Maryland Eastern Shore sophomore outside hitter Christine Edwards (Lakewood, Calif.) was named to the Tribe Invitational All-Tournament Team for her efforts leading the volleyball team to a 2-2 mark to open the 2009 campaign this weekend.

Edwards totaled 46 kills, 25 digs and six aces for the Hawks in a pair of straight-set wins over North Carolina A&T and Rider and losses to host William and Mary and Ohio State.

The Hawks finished third in the tournament field behind Ohio State (4-0) and William & Mary (3-1).

The 2008 MEAC Rookie of the Year, Edwards' top performance came against the Tribe. She a match-high 22 kills and added 12 digs for a double-double. Edwards also tallied an ace three block assists in the 3-1 defeat.

The Hawks next travel to Boiling Springs, N.C. Sept. 5-6 to take part in the Runnin' Bulldog Classic, hosted by Gardner-Webb.
