ALLODIN FOTHERGILL WINS BRONZE MEDAL IN 2011 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Former University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) track standout Allodin Fothergill won his first bronze medal on Saturday, September 3rd at the 13th IAAF World Championships in Daegu, South Korea in the 4x400m relay.

Fothergill, representing his native country of Jamaica ran the first leg setting the pace for his team to finish with a time of 3:00:10. This mark the first time since 2005 that Jamaica has medaled in this event, when it captured a bronze medal at the 10th IAAF World Championships in Helsinki, Finland.

At UMES, Fothergill was named Male Athlete of the Year for two consecutive years in 2008 and 2009. He is a 2010 indoor track NCAA All-American and holds 3 school records. He was a member of the school record holding 4x100m and 4x200m relay teams and he holds the 500m school record.
