KING, FOREMAN NAMED PRMC UMES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

March 26, 2012

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Freshman Morgan King (Danville, Ill.) and senior Jacob Foreman (Little Orleans, Md.) have been named the Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the week of March 26. This marks the first time this season that either student-athlete has received the award.

King was the top women's performer this week as she was 13-for-28 from the plate in seven games with eight RBIs and two doubles. The freshman clubbed her first collegiate homerun in UMES' 13-7 loss to North Carolina Central and had three games of at least three hits. She was dually effective for the maroon and gray, where she made 22 putouts and had 15 assists as an infielder.

Foreman was brilliant in the baseball team's second win of the year. The senior notched the complete-game victory against Delaware State on Saturday with seven stellar innings. His effort included four strikeouts and six scoreless frames, while limiting the opposition to just two hits and three earned runs. For the season, Foreman leads the team in strikeouts (26) and starts (six), while standing second with nearly 28 innings pitched.

The baseball team will stay at home for its next game when the Hawks host Mount St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday, March 28 at 3 p.m. The softball team hits the road to face Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foe, Coppin State University, for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 31 at 1 p.m.
