PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Seniors Cynthia Anais (Martinique, France) and Jacob Foreman (Little Orleans, Md.) have been named the Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the week of May 6th. This is the second time in 2012 that Anais and Foreman have been distinguished with the award.
Anais was a woman on a mission at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championships this past weekend as the senior posted two first-place finishes. Her efforts were highlighted by a MEAC record finish in the 800m as she finished in 2:05.97. Her amazing effort continued in the 1,500m when she finished in first with a time of 4:36.49. The senior holds the UMES record for both events as well.
Foreman continued his recent trend of dominance on the mound for UMES this past weekend. The senior fired a complete-game shutout against Norfolk State on Saturday, as he fanned six and allowed just two hits in seven innings. The match was his fifth complete game of the season and proved to be the first complete-game shutout by a Hawks pitcher since 2009. Foreman now has five wins on the season and stands with an era of 5.49.
The women's outdoor track team will next be in action when they travel to the IC4A/ECAC Championships on May 11-13. The baseball team will hit the road one last time during the regular season on Tuesday, May 8, when the men travel to Towson for a 3:30 p.m. matchup.
