SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Saturday afternoon (Nov. 21), the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Men's Basketball team continues its road trip, all part of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic, with a swing to South Carolina to take on the reigning SoCon Champions, the Wofford Terriers. Tip-off is scheduled for a rare noon start for the men's contest.

Like the Hawks, Wofford has started the campaign 0-2, taking losses to Missouri and North Carolina. The latter was a 20-point swing on Wednesday night to the nation's top-team. The Terriers and Hawks both played Mizzou. The Tigers topped UMES 73-55, running away in the second half after a two-point half-time deficit. Wofford fell 74-83 in the season opener for both teams.

UMES is coming off a solid outing where junior Bakari Copeland (Decauter, Ga.) led the game in scoring and rebounding with 16 points and six boards. Senior Devin Martin (Baltimore, Md.) is averaging 15.5 ppg after an 18 point outing against Kansas State.

Wofford is led by freshman Fletcher Magee who is averaging 16 ppg after two contests. Justin Gordon is a hair under him at 15.5 points per game. The Terriers have no player averaging more than 5.5 rebounds per game, which is CJ Neumann, who had six vs. the Tarheels. Wofford did have four players in double figure scoring against UNC.

The game will be Wofford's home opener, a place they enjoying at. The Terriers went 13-1 on their home floor, the Benjamin Johnson Arena, a year ago. Last year was also the team's most successful in program history, a 28-7 mark and 16-2 in the SoCon. In comparison, last year was the best UMES campaign in 41 years and the two teams both look to make a statement about this season, in this, their third game.

This is the first meeting between the two schools and Wofford did not play any MEAC team last season. Head Coach Bobby Collins has also never coached against Wofford. The Terriers are 18-2 in home openers and are on a four-game home winning streak, dating back to last season.

This year's Wofford squad returns a slew of upperclassmen who have been a part of back-to-back Southern Conference Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances. In fact, the Terriers are one of just four programs in the country who have won their conference championship four of the last six seasons. Though they are 0-4 in the NCAA Tournament.

UMES, who is young in their own right, is still looking for stability at the point guard, though freshman Ahmad Frost (Cincinnati, Ohio) played a solid game vs. Missouri with 29 minutes and no turnovers, a feat for a freshman.

"He grew up quick, as a freshman," said Assistant Coach Ace Custis, who was proud of the youngster's effort vs. Missouri.

UMES will hope that leadership continues tomorrow and that senior Dominique Elliott (Savannah, Ga.) will have an impact as he has finished each of the first two contests with four fouls each and was limited in minutes.

The game in scheduled for noon and will be live on WTGM-AM 960 in Salisbury, and will be on SFMSports.net on the web with Brendan Gulick on the call. The game can also be seen online on the SoCon Digital Network.
