PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Senior men's basketball forward Dominique Elliott (Savannah, Ga.) and freshman women's basketball guard Ciani Byrom (Winston-Salem, N.C.) were named the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Peninsula Regional Medical Center Athletes of the Week for the week ending December 14^th. Both athletes are being named for the second time this year.

Elliott was undoubtedly the Hawks' leader on the floor over three games this past week. He posted his first double-double of the year against North Carolina A&T with 13 points and 11 rebounds. At Michigan State he reached double figures with 11 points to go along with four boards. But perhaps his best performance was against Maryland this past Saturday, when Elliott led the field with 20 points while falling two rebounds shy of another double-double.

Byrom led the Hawks to an upset victory on the road against A&T, when she led the team with 22 points, just a bucket shy of her career high. The freshman also added five rebounds and four assists as UMES defeated the MEAC preseason favorite. Over the next two contests Byrom added 11 points, five rebounds and two assists against Duquesne and VCU.

Elliott and the men's team will travel to Old Dominion and American this weekend. Byrom will host UMBC Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. and Maryland at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
