PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Today, University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Men's Basketball head coach Bobby Collins adds new blood to the program from championship caliber backgrounds. Freshmen Dontae Caldwell (Santa Ana, Calif.), Ahmad Frost (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Isaac Taylor (Wachapreague, Va.) join the Hawk family after notable high school careers.

Caldwell comes to the East Coast from Santa Ana, Calif. where he guided his squad to back-to-back California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Championships. In 2014, he won the conference's Most Valuable Player (MVP) award while scoring a career-high 43 points. The two-time All-League honoree was a member of the Compton Magic in Los Angeles and will major in communications in the fall. Last season, Caldwell attended Bull City Prep Academy where he was highly recruited by Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) foes North Carolina Central and North Carolina A&T.

In 2014, Frost was named the Cincinnati Hills League (CHL) Player of the Year after guiding his club to a CHL Conference Championship. Additionally, the four-year letterman earned multiple individual honors throughout his high school career, including District 16 Player of the Year honors and netted a career-high 34 points. The honor roll student-athlete will study computer science for the Hawks.

Taylor attended Montrose Christian H.S. in Rockville, Md., the same high school as former National Basketball Association (NBA) league MVP Kevin Durant. Before arriving at Montrose Christian, he averaged a double-double at Nandua H.S. in Onley, Virginia. Also, he was a member of the Pocomoke Knights and ESVA Heat where he was the top scorer for the Knights and top rebounder for the Heat. Taylor guided the Knights to a second place finish in the Ocean City Tournament. In the fall, the Eastern Shore Virginia product will major in Business Management.

The squad brings back seven Hawks, led by Devin Martin (Baltimore), 2015 All-MEAC selection Dominique Elliott (Savannah, Ga.) and 2015 MEAC Rookie of the Year Ryan Andino (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.).
