Sophomore pitcher Adrienne Guerra (Monrovia, Calif.) earned her sixth victory of the season after tossing her 13th complete game of the year.
MATCHUP PREVIEW
UMBC (16-23) looks to snap a seven-game skid, dating back to March 30. Overall, the Retrievers are hitting .286; however, have struggled away from home with a 2-8 road record. The squad has faced Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) opponents 13 times this season while accumulating a 9-4 mark. In February, the Retrievers split with the Lady Hawks at the UMBC Kickoff Tournament. Bridget O'Malley leads the way, averaging .417 at the plate.
Maryland Eastern Shore (8-19) looks to build momentum as they continue league play Saturday (April 16). Senior Vanessa Gomez (Belleville, N.J.) spearheads the Hawk attack while leading the nation in triples-per-game. In the circle, Guerra continues to be the squad's No. 1 pitcher. In league play, the California product ranks first in innings pitched (41.0) and second in strikeouts (35).
