Sept. 14, 2016 PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland- In their final test before conference season, Maryland Eastern Shore heads to East Lansing, Michigan for the Spartan Classic, hosted by Michigan State University. While there the Hawks will face three tough opponents, beginning with Notre Dame and DePaul on Friday and finishing with host Michigan State on Saturday.
This will be the first meeting between the Hawks and all three opponents.
All matches will be played at Jenison Field House, the former home of Michigan State basketball, where Magic Johnson once competed. Live streaming and live stats will be available for all matches.
Notre Dame has already equaled their win total from a season ago in a resurgent campaign. The Fighting Irish are 7-2 under head coach Jim McLaughlin, a national championship winner with Washington. Maryland Eastern Shore will be the second Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) opponent that Notre Dame faces this year, having beaten Howard in five sets on September 3rd.
DePaul enters the tournament at 5-4. The Blue Demons, coached by Nadia Edwards, will be playing their first MEAC opponent since they lost to Hampton in 2014.
Host Michigan State is currently ranked in the Top 25 at number 18. With a record of 8-1, the Spartans are already well on their way to improving on their 19-14 record and first round NCAA tournament appearance from a year ago.
