Jan. 5, 2017 PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Department of Athletics has announced their marketing office's upcoming basketball promotions for 2017.
It all starts Saturday Jan. 28 as the Hawks play South Carolina State on Take a Kid to the Game Day with all youth receiving free admission. Children 12 and under are admitted free at the door, regardless of pre-registration, while youth who are seventh grade and up are also eligible to receive a complimentary admission. Those attendees must fill out a separate registration form in advance due to NCAA regulations and are not eligible for the prizes. Parents, guardians and chaperones are encouraged to pre-register to ensure prizes at easternshoresportscamps.com.
On Monday, Jan. 30, the squads play Savannah State and the theme for the night is Coaches vs. Cancer. Suits and Sneakers is a national Coaches vs. Cancer event that is designed to raise awareness about the fight against cancer and the American Cancer Society. During the week coaches are encouraged to show support by wearing sneakers with their suits during their games.
Saturday Feb. 4, the Hawks play Coppin State in a Breast Cancer Awareness game. This matchup is part of the Play 4 Kay initiative, where all around the world fans will participate in a national free throw challenge while raising money for the cause. Monday Feb.13 all Greeks, both current undergrads and alumni, are invited to come out and have a good time, 'repping' their colors in Hytche. Greeks in paraphernalia will receive free admission. The Hawks take on Bethune-Cookman with the women starting at 5:30 and the men following. Fans will also be able to enjoy a unity performance from current Greeks during halftime of the men's game.
Saturday, Feb. 18, is HOMECOMING and all alumni should plan on being in Princess Anne to help cheer on the Hawks as they face North Carolina Central. More information about all the week's activities will be posted on umes.edu and tickets for the game should be bought in advance on umestickets.com
The last home game will be Senior Night on March 2 as Morgan State comes to town. Cheer on the seniors for the final time in their home finale, while other teams' seniors will also be recognized.
