PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore volleyball team travels this week for a pair of road MEAC matches. Norfolk State is up first on Friday (Nov. 2) followed by a match with Howard on Sunday (Nov. 4).
Friday's match begins at 6 p.m. at NSU's Gill Gymnasium, and Sunday's match at 3 p.m. takes place at Howard's Burr Gymnasium.
Live stats are available for both the Norfolk State and Howard matches. The Spartans will stream the match for a fee, and tickets are available for the Howard match.
This weekend's matches will be pivotal in the MEAC North standings. Maryland Eastern Shore sits second in the division at 4-2. Norfolk State pulled off an upset of Morgan State to improve to 2-5, threatening Coppin State for the fourth and final MEAC tournament spot. Howard is on the opposite end with an undefeated mark as they try to secure the top seed for the tournament.
Two wins for the Hawks this weekend will clinch a spot at MEAC's, which will be hosted by Howard November 16th through the 18th.
In the first matchup between the two schools, the Hawks swept Norfolk State at the Hytche Center on October 5th. Howard earned a sweep over the Hawks on October 7th. Senior Lucia Babic (Sisak, Croatia) hit .567 against the Spartans, helping The Shore earn their third highest hitting percentage on the season.
