PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team will be home on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 24) to face the Central Penn College Knights.
Eastern Shore (0-5) will be looking to get in the win column for the first time this season against the Knights. The Hawks will be playing Central Penn for the second straight year as Maryland Eastern Shore won last year's matchup 74-69.
Playing at home has been unfamiliar early in the season as four of the first five games for the Shore have been on the road. The Hawks only other home game this season was a Nov. 13 loss to Longwood 66-63. That game was the Hawks most contested battle of the season to this point.
During the most recent road trip to North Texas and Mercer, Maryland Eastern Shore had only nine players suit up. That gave others an opportunity to play and show what they can do.
One of those to step up was redshirt sophomore Montraz Oliver (Princess Anne, MD). The local product had a career high 13 points versus Mercer last Tuesday (Nov. 20) and should see other opportunities as the season continues due to his performance.
As for Eastern Shore's opponent on Saturday, the Knights are 2-1 this season with the lone loss coming to MEAC opponent Howard. They have been led so far this season by junior Noah Baylor, who had a double-double against Howard earlier this season and had 12 points and eight rebounds versus the Hawks last season.
After Saturday, Maryland Eastern Shore will travel to Queens, NY to face St. John's on Tuesday night (Nov. 27). Following that game, the Shore will come home to face the University of Delaware next Friday (Nov. 30).
