Hawks Close Long Week versus ECU

Eastern Shore Will Play Its Third Game in Six Days Sunday

PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team will play its third game in six days Sunday afternoon (Dec. 2) as they travel to Greenville, NC to face the East Carolina University Pirates. Tip is set for 4 p.m.

The Hawks (1-7) are coming off a 71-62 lost on Friday (Nov. 30) against the University of Delaware. Forward AJ Cheeseman (Snellville, GA) led Eastern Shore with 16 points before fouling out with just over four minutes left in the game.

Guards Bryan Urrutia (Chihuahua, Mexico) and Ryan Andino (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) also scored in double figures against the Blue Hens with 15 and 12 points respectively.

Maryland Eastern Shore's opponent on Sunday is sitting at 5-4 on the season. One of those wins came against the Hawks' Route 13 rival Delaware State as ECU won 81-56 on Nov. 6.

The Pirates are being led this year by freshman Jayden Gardner. Gardener is averaging 18.7 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per game.

After Sunday's game, the Hawks will not play again until Dec. 13 versus Duquesne. They will play the University of Pittsburgh two days after that.
