PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania - Maryland Eastern Shore fell in a midweek contest to the La Salle Explorers on Tuesday (Apr. 24) at DeVincent Field. The Explorers led wire-to-wire in a 6-1 final.
The Hawks (9-32) received a solid start from sophomore Caleb Walston (Princess Anne, Maryland), who went five innings and gave up two earned runs. Seniors Jamison Trower (Chesterfield, Virginia) and Jessey Valdez (Dorchester, Massachusetts) registered multi-hit games.
For La Salle (14-25), Dylan Evans went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, and Matt Patricio earned the win with three innings of relief.
The Explorers broke the ice in the bottom of the first and gradually built their lead throughout the game. Maryland Eastern Shore earned their run in the fifth, when Valdez singled to score sophomore Dwayne Marshall (Piscataway, New Jersey).
The Shore wraps up their 2018 home slate with a weekend series against Norfolk State. First pitch times are 11 a.m. Saturday (Apr. 28) and noon Sunday (Apr. 29).
