TALLAHASSEE, Florida — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team is playing their first game outside of Maryland since Dec. 28 on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 19) against the Florida A&M University Rattlers. Tip will be at 4 p.m.
The Hawks (2-17, 0-4 MEAC) are coming off one of the better performances of the season from start to finish against North Carolina A&T on Jan. 14. The Shore fell to the Aggies 67-58, but they came away with some positives to build from in the contest.
Forward Tyler Jones (Atlantic City, NJ) led Eastern Shore with 11 points and point guard Bryan Urrutia (Chihuahua, Mexico) finished with 10 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Center Isaac Taylor (Wachapreague, VA) had 10 points and has increased his defensive output over the past two games.
Saturday's opponent, Florida A&M (5-13, 2-1 MEAC), is coming off a win versus Savannah State on Jan. 12. The Rattlers are currently tied for fourth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference after two weeks of conference play.
Guard Justin Ravenel is averaging 14.8 points per game, sixth in the MEAC, for FAMU. The senior has made 57 of his 81 total field goals this season from three point range.
