WEST HARTFORD, Connecticut — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore volleyball team will play in their final nonconference tournament this weekend (Sept. 20-21) in the Hartford Invitational.
The Hawks (4-7) will face St. Francis Brooklyn, the University of Hartford, Central Connecticut State and Lafayette College. This will be the second time this season that Maryland Eastern Shore faces St. Francis Brooklyn and Lafayette. They dropped matches to both schools in four sets earlier this season on Aug. 31 and Sept. 7 respectively.
Eastern Shore is coming off a win on Wednesday night (Sept. 18) at Saint Peter's. The Hawks had three players – Ilina Spasova (Sofia, Bulgaria), Tatjana Trifkovic (Belgrade, Serbia) and Alexis Lee (Wilmington, Delaware) – that finished with double digit kills in the match. That balanced should serve the Hawks well as they gear up for their upcoming conference schedule.
Following this weekend's games, Maryland Eastern Shore will play their first conference match of the season at Morgan State on Sept. 27.
