PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore's Hall of Fame will again be the official host of the third-annual Hawk Hall of Fame Golf Outing to benefit the school's golf team on October 14, 2019 at the Ocean City Golf Club in Berlin, Md.
The event is the kick-off and practice round for the 2019 Maryland Eastern Shore Collegiate Invite, held the following two days at the same location which is in its fourth year.
The Hawk Hall of Fame Golf Outing is a non-competitive 18 holes of golf featuring, fellowship, friendship, a dinner with members of the Hawk Hall of Fame and a participation gift. The cost is $100 per golfer or $350 per foursome. Included are beverages and snacks on the course, two carts per foursome and green fees.
Men's golf head coach
Marshall Cropper, a Hawk Hall of Famer himself who played football with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Redskins, created the event to help gather members of the Hall of Fame, alumni, friends and supporters to have a fun day spreading Hawk Pride while helping raise funds to support the men's and women's golf teams at Maryland Eastern Shore.
"Golf is the one sport that can really help create relationships that drive business and personal growth while playing it," said Cropper. I think it is important that our young people get an opportunity to learn the game and what it can give. Raising money to support Maryland Eastern Shore, the only HBCU with a Professional Golf Management major, is a way to cement the legacy of the Hawks and teach the game that can give so much."
"We think this will be a fun way to support our Hawk golf teams," said Director of Athletics
Keith Davidson. "Golf is a relaxing and entertaining sport and to pair it with the chance to help these student-athletes succeed, it's a win, win."
Tee times range from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and are on a first come first served basis. Dinner is served at approximately 6 p.m.
