PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore volleyball team will play in the Crosstown Invitational hosted by Lehigh University and Lafayette College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania this weekend (Sept. 6-7).
The Hawks (2-2) are coming off a .500 weekend in a tournament at St. Francis Brooklyn (Aug. 30-31). The wins in the tournament for Eastern Shore came against Saint Peter's and NJIT.
Maryland Eastern Shore will play their first matches of the season this weekend with all 12 players on the roster at the disposal of head coach Trevor Callarman. Sophomore Mauri Carver (Elizabeth City, North Carolina), who was a MEAC all-rookie selection last season, will return from injury to make her season debut. Junior college transfers Marina Cruz (Uberlandia, Brazil) and Haley Thomas (Waianae, Hawaii) also are set to make their Hawk debuts this weekend.
The Shore will play their first match of the weekend on Friday (Sept. 6) against the University of Pennsylvania at 1 p.m. at Lehigh. Later that day, the Hawks will play Lehigh at 7 p.m. On Saturday (Sept. 7), Eastern Shore will play at Lafayette College versus the host at 3:30 p.m.
