Three Former Hawks and a Current Assistant Make MEAC’s All-Time Teams

Teams Selected as Part of the Conference’s 50th Anniversary Celebration

PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore had three former basketball players and a current assistant coach that were named to the women's and men's basketball Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference All-Time Teams.

The former Hawks on the women's side that made it are Monica Felder and April McBride and the former men's player is Talvin Skinner. Eastern Shore's current men's basketball associate head coach, Larry Stewart, made the squad based on his work on the court at Coppin State University.

Felder competed for the Hawks from 1984-1988. She was named First Team All-Conference four times and is the Hawks' All-Time leading scorer with 2,008 career points. She was the MEAC Player of the Year in 1988. Felder holds conference tournament records for most field goals made and attempted when she went 17-36 against Morgan State in 1985. She was inducted into the Hawks Hall of Fame in 1999 and the MEAC Hall of Fame in 2007.

McBride spent four seasons in Princess Anne from 2006-2010. She was named First Team All-MEAC in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and was on the All-Rookie team in 2007. She holds the conference tournament record for points scored in a game when she scored 34 points versus Coppin State in 2010. McBride's 1,698 career points is ranked 18th in MEAC history.

Skinner was a member of the Hawks from 1971-1974. He was a two-time First Team All-MEAC selection in 1973 and 1974 and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the MEAC Tournament in 1974. His 1,200 career rebounds are the second-most in conference history. The Hawks 1973-74 team that Skinner was on was the first HBCU team to play in the NIT Tournament. Skinner went into the MEAC Hall of Fame in 2002 and the Hawks Hall of Fame in 2010. He was drafted by Seattle Supersonics in 1974 in the third round and was also an ABA draftee the same year by the New York Nets in the fifth round.

Stewart was a standout for the Coppin State Eagles from 1987-91. He was the MEAC Player of the Year in 1990 and 1991 and was inducted into MEAC Hall of Fame in 2005. His jersey number was retired by Coppin State after his career and he would go on to play 17 years of professional basketball highlighted by his first six seasons in the NBA from 1991-97 with the Washington Bullets, Vancouver Grizzlies and Seattle Supersonics.

Nearly 3,000 votes were cast for the Men's Basketball All-Time Team and nearly 3,500 votes were cast for the Women's Basketball All-Time Team, with fans, media representatives, institution sports information contacts and others taking part.

To be considered on the ballot, players must have been named to one of the following: First Team All-MEAC, MEAC Player of the Year, All-America or a MEAC Hall of Fame inductee.
