PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — Due to a high chance of inclement weather in the area, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore softball team will not participate in the Blue Hose Invitational in Clinton, South Carolina this weekend.
The Hawks were slated to face Toledo and Presbyterian on Saturday, February 11 to open the two-day tournament. UMES would have faced Toledo again on day two, followed by Bellarmine.
With the cancelation, the Hawks begin their season in the Spartan Classic hosted by the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The tourney runs from February 17-19 and will see UMES face George Mason (twice), Holy Cross, USC Upstate and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foe South Carolina State in the weekend.
