Hawks beat Texas Southern for fourth straight victory
STEPHENVILLE, Texas - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore volleyball team beat Texas Southern in four-sets on Friday afternoon in the Hawks' opening game of the Dr. Pam Littleton Classic.
With the win, UMES continues its best start to a season in six years while improving to 6-4 overall. TSU remains winless on the year with its record now at 0-13 on the season.
UMES won the first set, 25-21. TSU evened up the match with a 25-16 win in the second stanza before UMESÂ wins of 25-17 and 26-24 to seal the victory.
The fourth and final set proved to be a resillient one for the Hawks. Down 24-19, a kill by
Soleil Cotton was the beginning of seven straight UMES points to end the match in favor of the Hawks.

Ranyla Griggs led UMES with 11 kills.
Charlize Williams and Anjola Omelowa each had three blocks.
Nkemjika Ikemefuna recorded 10 digs.
Now on a four match winning streak, UMES continues play at the Dr. Pam Littleton Classic on Saturday with a University of California Riverside and host Tarleton State.
