Hawks announce addition of Amber Elliott to women's basketball coaching staff

PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland
— As the 2023-24 season approaches, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore women's basketball program will have a new voice on the bench as Amber Elliott will join the staff as an assistant coach.

"I am excited to work with Amber this upcoming season. She is a woman of high character and work ethic," UMES head coach Fred Batchelor says. "We are thrilled she has come home to UMES to help our program achieve our goals. Grewing up and playing in the region, she brings great knowledge and connections to the area. In addition to her coaching abilities, we feel she will be great for our program as we continue to build our relationships with the community"

Born in Baltimore Maryland, Elliott grew up in Marion, Maryland.

She attended local Crisfield High School from 2005 to 2008 before transferring to Holly Grove Christian School for her senior year. As a high school player, Elliott earned team MVP and Conference Player of the Year while leading her team to a 23-1 record and a Conference Championship. She joined the Hawk women's basketball program during the 2009-2010 season and went on to graduate from UMES with a Bachelors Degree in Rehabilitation Services.

In 2017, Elliott began her coaching career while providing skill development. In 2018, She opened up and co-owned a training facility called Xposure Athletics The Sports Company which provided a space designed to help players enhance their basketball skills such as development of shooting dribbling footwork and overall athleticism, working with small children to professionals. She is also a co-founder of Project Xposure Inc, a 501c3 organization that focuses on the youth and providing mentorship as well as athletic activities. Through these initiatives, Elliot has been able to travel abroad with players to experience different cultures and play competitively, as well as create a competitive AAU program with top talent from the Delmarva region.
