SUMMARY:Â The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks competed in their third meet of the indoor season during Saturday's HBCU Showcase sponsored by KPMG. Performing in Armory in New York City, UMES was one of 19 HBCU programs featured in the annual event. The Hawk men had 12 point earners including a win in the long jump. The UMES women had four athletes earn points which included two first place finishes in the triple jump and 400 meter race.

OVERALL WOMEN'S TEAM PERFORMANCE
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore women's program finished in a tie for 8
th place in the team standings with 27 points. Hampton topped the overall team scores with 115 points.
Lucas was impressive in the 400 meter race with a first place result as she crossed the line in 55.87. Irving grabbed the top spot in the triple jump with a mark of 12.34m. For Lucas and Irving, the Saturday performances both met the NCAA preliminary qualifying standards.
Lucas and Irving were also part of the UMES 4 x 400 meter relay team with
Mackenzi Evans and
Abigail Dyett that came in third place with a pace of 3:56.30.
Shenell Simms chipped in to the Hawk point total with an eighth place result in 800 meter race (2:22.72).

OVERALL MEN'S TEAM PERFORMANCE
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's team finished in third place with a point total of 56. The MEAC was well represented in the top three as Norfolk State won the event with 119 points and Delaware State was second with 69 points.

UMES freshman sprinter
Andie Kollie picked up points with a sixth place finish in the 60 meter dash with a pace of 6.82 and a second place finish in the 200 meter race. Both of Kollie's performances were NCAA preliminary qualifying times. Three UMES runners earned points in the 400 meter race with
Destiny Emuze coming in fourth (50.03),
Adrian Dula finished fifth (50.04) and
Brandon Alston in eighth (53.92).Â
Favian Gollop had a fifth place performance in the 500 meter run (1:06.52).
Nahom Ftwi was sixth in the 1 mile run (4:32.84).
Caleb Goslee took first place in the long jump with an NCAA preliminary qualifying mark of 7.43m.
Kareem Kamandeyo finished in third with a mark of 3:21.60 in the pole vault. Aiken finished in second place in the triple jump with a mark of 15.06m while
Mackel Pierrilus was eighth with a jump of 14.04m. Aiken's performance also met the NCAA preliminary qualifying standards.

The 4 x 400 men's relay team also earned points with a seventh place finish (3:21.6)

"We still have a lot of work to get to where we need to be as a team. I thought our team worked hard throughout the holiday break. The work ethic showed in the results as we were productive in a majority of the events we competed in."
