SUMMARY:
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks continued the indoor track & field season at Saturday's Oceanfront Invitational in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The UMES women had seven point-earners finishing in fifth place as a team while the Hawk men had 22 point-earners including five wins on their way to a second place finish.

OVERALL WOMEN'S TEAM PERFORMANCE
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore women's program finished fifth place in the team standings with 41 points in the field of 10 teams.
UMES accumulated their points thanks to seven top-ten performances.
Mackenzi Evans took second place in the 200 meter dash (25.41) followed by a fourth place run by
Chloe Lucas (25.45). Evans also finished fourth in the 400 meter race (58.33). In the triple jump,
Faithlyn Irving finished in second place with a mark of 12.05m.
Jonysha Prucien recorded a mark of 11.72m which was good for third place.
Running two teams in the 4 x 400 meter relays, both UMES squads earned points as
Kimoria Chance,
Adekansola Adewami,
Mar'Shay Robinson and Prucien ran a third place pace of 4:02.65. The team of
Kiyana Smith,
Shy-Ann Campbell,
Kani'a Dozier and Shennell Simms finished in sixth (4:17.43).
OVERALL MEN'S TEAM PERFORMANCE
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's team finished in second place with a point total of 132 in a field of nine teams.
UMES had 22 student-athletes earn points which included five first place finishers.
Radjae Reid led a trio of Hawk sprinters in the 60 meter dash. Reid won the event with a time of 6.87 while Withcell Laurier came in fourth place (7.05) and
Kennis Welch finished in fifth (7.07). Five Hawks grabbed points in the 200 meter race led by
Andie Kollie's first place sprint of 21.82.
Adrian Dula finished close behind Kollie with a time of 22.11.
Tyrese Golston was fifth (22.56),
Brandon Alston came in seventh place (22.66) and Laurier was in eighth (22.69).
Five Hawks finished in the top ten in the men's 800 meter race.
Destiny Emuze won the event with a time of 1:57.53. UMES also grabbed third, fourth, fifth and sixth place with the performances of
Bryce Ayers (1:59.22),
Jalen Ridgeway (1:59.37), Favian Gallop (2:00.31) and
Nahom Ftwi (2:00.96).
David Martin earned UMES points in the mile run with a time of 4:46.33 which resulted in a fifth place finish.
Reid recorded another win in the 60 meter hurdles by crossing the line in 8.54. Kareem Kamandego grabbed first place in the pole vault (4.10m/13' 5.25").
With two relay teams in the 4 x 400 meter relays, UMES finished in second and third place. The team of Kollie,
Malachi Aiken,
Mackel Pierrilus and Sergio Chofong had a time of 3:29.21 while Gollop, Welch, Ayers and Ftwi had a pace of 3:29.44.
In the long jump, Aiken finished in second place (6.97m) while
Jonathan Brooks was seventh (6.39m). Brooks was third in the triple jump with a mark of 13.43m and Pierrilus also recorded a third place result in the high jump (1.81m).

The Hawks will travel to the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic with competition scheduled for Friday, January 26 and Saturday, January 27.
