HOW IT HAPPENED
- It seemed like the the Hawks carried over their strong play over from Saturday into Sunday as UMES finished with a 3-0 record on the day.
- The No.15 Hawks opened with a revenge win over No. 11 Stephen F. Austin, 4-2, after UMES dropped a match to the Lumberjacks earlier in the Classic.
- UMES was not done as it upset No. 9Â Maryville (Mo.) 4-1 in the second match of the day.
- The "icing on the cake" for the Hawks as a 4-2 win over No. 4 Vanderbilt, the tournament host, to close out the weekend. The win snapped a seven-matchup losing streak to the Commodores and pushed the Hawks to a seventh-place finish.
