HOW IT HAPPENED

In the search of their first win of the year, the struggling Hawks jumped out to a 4-1 lead thanks to a big second inning from the plate. Doubles by
Carter Rieben and
Derrick Mayes II brought in the four UMES runs. The Hawks added a run on a throwing error and appeared to be in full control after a three run homerun by
Bronson Taylor gave UMES a 8-1 lead in the seventh.

FDU used the power of the long ball to battle back. A two-run homerun by Jeremy Cheeseman in the bottom of the seventh inning brought the Knights within five. Cheeseman cashed in again with a grandslam in the next inning to cut the Hawk lead to 8-7. In the bottom of the ninth inning, the FDU hero would turn out to be Hunter D'Amato who hit the walk off homerun to seal the 9-8 win for FDU and the series sweep of the Hawks.
