HOW IT HAPPENED
The Seahawks jumped out to an early lead in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by redshirt senior Xavier Ulrich. With UMES starting pitcher Brandan Poole on the mound, a failed attempt at a fly ball for the third out of the fourth inning proved to be costly. Wagner capitalized on the mistake with an RBI single by Ariv Camacho and an RBI triple by Henry Martinez to extend the Wagner lead to 3-0.
Â
One inning later, Diego Tavarez brought home Albert Serrano for his second run of the game, before RBIs by Lukas Torres and Mateo Matthews in the sixth inning made it 6-0 in favor of Wagner.
Â
Wagner pitcher Connor Hayden went seven innings while allowing just five hits and striking out two to earn the victory.Â
