Hawk men and women record sixth place finishes at HBCU Showcase
NEW YORK CITY - The Maryland Eastern Shore men and women both finished in sixth place in Saturday's HBCU Showcase sponored by KPMG. The men were highlighted with wins in the triple jump and 500 meter race while the women picked up a first place result in the triple jump.
On the men's side, triple jumper Malachi Aiken won the triple jump with a mark of 15.46m. Aiken's mark currently ranks as the 16th best jump in the country. In the men's 500 meter race, Favian Gollop crossed the finish line first with a pace of 1:03.80. Other point earners for the UMES men included:

The men's team finished with a combined 41 points to finish sixth out of 16 teams.
Faithlyn Irving earned a win in the triple jump with a distance of 12.01m. Irving, who won the event last season, picked up her first win of the indoor season. Top performers for the Hawk women included:
