How It Happened

UMES vs. Monmouth

Monmouth scored at least one run in every inning except the fifth, propelling the Hawks past UMES, 9-2, on Sunday morning.

UMES tallied its first runs of the weekend off Monmouth errors. Isabella Manzo singled to second base, and Ella Falcetti reached on a fielding error, allowing Manzo to advance to third. Falcetti stole second, and on the following pitch, Manzo scored on a wild pitch while Falcetti advanced to third. The Hawks' final run came on a fielder's choice, as Lola Meyer reached first base and Falcetti capitalized on a Monmouth miscue.

Monmouth added one more run to secure a 9-2 victory in the first game of Sunday's slate.

UMES vs. Presbyterian College
The Hawks wrapped up the Scotsman Invitational on ESPN+ with a 9-3 loss to tournament host Presbyterian College on Sunday afternoon.

The Blue Hose struck early, scoring six runs on four hits in the first inning. UMES responded in the second when Manzo singled to left field, driving in Clarke Calvin, who had reached on a walk. A fielding error led to Kai Hudson adding to the Hawks' total, with Falcetti hitting a deep sacrifice fly to left, allowing Hudson to cross home plate for UMES' final run of the inning.

UMES added one more run when Manzo stole home on a wild pitch. She had reached on a walk, and Falcetti singled to right field to move the runners. A passed ball by the Blue Hose catcher advanced both into scoring position, allowing the Hawks to trim Presbyterian's lead.

Presbyterian added three runs between the fourth and fifth innings to seal the 9-3 win.
