(Eagles sweep the series 3-0)
HOW IT HAPPENED
For the second consecutive game, the Hawks and Eagles were tied after five innings. After the Eagles tacked on two runs in the second inning, the Hawks answered in the bottom of the second frame with a run of their own. Jonathan Gonzalez Perez scored on a Coppin State fielding error to get the Hawks on the board. In the fourth inning, UMES scored their second run on a Ryan Davis sacrifice fly that drove in Ryan Howe, who reached base on a triple a few moments prior. After the Eagles tacked on another run in the fifth inning, Maryland Eastern Shore tied up the game on a solo home run to right field by Julian Jimenez, igniting the Hawk dugout with cheers. At the end of the fifth frame, the Eagles and Hawks were deadlocked, 3-3.
Similarly to game two of the series, Coppin State took the lead for good in the sixth inning. The Eagles scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch, giving Coppin State the lead for good. After a few rally attempts by the Hawks fell short in the sixth and seventh innings, the Eagles generated a trio of insurance runs in the eighth inning to cement a lead that proved insurmountable for UMES. Coppin State closed out the game in the ninth to win both the game, 7-3, and the series.
